I have seen the the tool post grinder and the damage it does. I bought a saddlebacked lathe were every slide was worn. I bought it for the history and the solid bench. This 11" South Bend saw everything from 1933 thru War production then later used as a beater lathe. Consider making ends meet by using your original lathe as a grinder.

Mar 12, 2016. #1. I have one of these clamp-on affairs for dressing tool post grinder wheels. You clamp the C on the stock held in the chuck. A diamond point tool is secured into one of the clamp holes & you dress the grinding wheel by skimming across the point. At least I really hope that's how its intended to function.

i have used tool post grinders and an adapter to hold a die grinder.. basically i used to put a mirror type finish on internal pump mixer parts using Cratex rubberized abrasive stones. these stones can do a nice job. normally i only took 0.0005" at a time as i was improving surface finish and not wanting to take a lot of material off.
