Just changed my right seal..On a Yamaha the clutch basket drive gear would appear to throw a stream of oil right at the seal while running.It would be easy for the motor to suck the oil in. I rode about 10-15 laps and a few starts at a practice track. It lost 150cc (put in 650cc and measured only 500cc coming out after the ride) oil in that short time, so I decided to replace it.

2005 Yamaha Blaster lots of white smoke and sluggish power ...
Hey guys. My buddy's Yamaha Blaster is causing problems. We put a brand new top end on it. Now it runs, but it smokes a TON of white smoke and the power is very sluggish. The higher gear/rev it's in, the more it smokes. I've heard it might be crank seals, but we already replaced the main one. Is there multiple ones? Is this for sure our problem?

If you haven't opened up the engine yet, run a crank case leak down test (there's a how-to sticky in the Honda 2-stroke forum) to rule out the possibility of an air leak, bad crank seals etc. Look for a blocked main jet, low float level etc. anything that might have leaned out the supply of fuel to the engine. Are these quads oil injected?

351 Posts. #2 · Feb 6, 2004. the flywheel side will pop out fairly easy with a flat blade screwdriver, but the trans side is a little tougher, you have to remove the hold down bracket first and the crank spacer, it'll pop out with a little effort though. Sorry can't return PM's for tech advice, some people have to ruin things for others.

I install the seals and bearings in the case halves first. Why are you pressing the crank into the right case half? The manual has you pull the crank into the left (ignition) case and then install the transmission and slide the right case onto the assembly. even with the seal in which rides on a collar the right case half should slip onto the crank without touching the seal.
