The two shafts, each 15 feet in diameter, were sunk in 1874 to the Top Hard seam by the Skegby Colliery Company and deepened during 1896 to 1897 to the Low Main seam at 467 yards below the surface. Closed in 1989 due to exhaustion of coal.
